Full-Time Staff: Admissions Counselor - Continuing Education, Summerdale

Do you enjoy speaking with a variety of people?  Are you able to paint a picture with words alone?  Do your friends describe you as persistent, yet friendly?  Can you juggle multiple tasks and remain organized? If so, then Central Penn College is looking for you to join our Admissions team as a full time Counselor.

An Admissions Counselor is responsible for contributing to Central Penn College’s approach of providing an education that eliminates boundaries, opens new horizons, and turns potential into career success.

Duties include:

  • Knowledge of Central Penn College programs, features, locations – with the ability to clearly communicate information in a professional and consistent manner
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective students within 24 hours
  • Interact with and assist potential students through the enrollment process, including responding by phone and email to student inquiries, scheduling and conducting admissions interviews, and communicating with the enrolled student prior to the term start as well as throughout the first term
  • Maintain appropriate documentation regarding student contact in admissions software programs
  • Attend on-campus and off campus events, including networking and open house enrollment events
  • Interact with the College’s personnel, (i.e., faculty, Deans, support staff, administrative staff) as required
  • Evening hours and a Saturday rotation required 

Ideal candidate will possess:

  • Background in sales or recruitment
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain organized electronic and paper files

Position Requirements:

Full-Time Staff: Center Director - Lancaster

This position provides leadership and direction for the development, management and student recruitment of Traditional and Continuing Education Program (including evening and Saturday, online and blended classes) students for the Lancaster Center.  This position ensures that Central Penn delivers the highest quality post-secondary education programs for adults and traditional students, while meeting its enrollment objectives for this key satellite facility. Responsibilities include hiring and training faculty, coordinating course schedules, supervising admissions, and impacting student employment in their chosen fields.  

This is an important management position in the organization.  Reporting to the VP, Enrollment, it has broad latitude to act on behalf of the College on matters relating to recruitment of students in the Lancaster area.  

Management responsibilities include compliance with program accreditation standards and accountability for activities and operating results.

The Center Director has direct supervision of center staff, including enrollment counselor(s) and part time faculty.   This position is directly responsible for an annual operating budget and is expected to generate, through continuing and new enrollments, revenue for the College

Expected Contributions 

SUPPORT STRATEGIC AND ANNUAL RECRUITMENT PLANNING

Working closely with the President, Provost, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing Services Director: 

  • Analyzes regional and national post-secondary education needs, traditional and continuing education programming trends, and profiles of like organizations to prepare strategic program plans and service goals.
  • Analyzes the Lancaster region marketplace/community needs and interests with respect to continuing education.
  • Participates, along with the Vice President of Enrollment Management in meetings/discussions with academic representatives about current and proposed education programs.
  • Assists in developing marketing plans and strategies to support Central Penn’s recruitment efforts in the Lancaster market in conjunction with the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing Services Director.
  • Prepares and submits annual and longer-term recruitment plans, including staffing and other resource requirements, to the President for approval.
  • Periodically reports progress to the Vice President of Enrollment Management.

MANAGE ONGOING CE RECRUITMENT/ENROLLMENT OPERATIONS FOR LANCASTER CENTER

  • Work with the Marketing Services department to develop and implement promotional programs about Central Penn and its continuing education offerings.
  • Serve as the College’s Business Partnership and Community Outreach representative, soliciting students through area employers, attending community open houses, etc.
  • Monitor department program costs v. approved budget.
  • Analyze and interpret marketing and admissions data, reporting on issues, challenges and progress against goals, and modifying plans to meet changing market needs and conditions.
  • Continuously evaluate program effectiveness, adjusting longer-term approaches to optimize admissions success rates.
  • Meet with academic program representatives to understand selling opportunities and the effectiveness of the current recruitment effort.

ENROLLMENT SUPPORT

  • Meets with new students to advise them on program choices/options.
  • Tracks applicants during the admissions process, producing periodic status and activity reports.
  • Ensures that all information/documentation on Lancaster Center continuing education students is entered into the College’s information systems and/or delivered to the appropriate offices in Summerdale. 

SELECT, DEVELOP, MOTIVATE, AND RETAIN QUALIFIED STAFF 

  • Define Enrollment Department job roles and profiles that meet current and future needs of the College.
  • Select candidates with requisite qualifications, skills, and aptitudes.
  • Monitor individual performance and foster a team oriented work environment.

COMPLIANCE WITH ACCREDITATION AND ETHICAL STANDARDS FOR POST SECONDARY EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

  • Awareness of all applicable external and College Board-approved values and operating standards.
  • Works with regulatory and accreditation organizations to ensure that academic programs and the staff who provide education services meet and exceed the requirements for post-secondary education institutions.
  • Actively leads and communicates to staff the need for the highest level of ethical behavior in all College activities and particularly in their dealings with individual students.
  • Periodic reporting to the President and the Cabinet on program compliance.
  • Represents the College to external groups in an effective, professional and highly ethical manner.

Essential Qualifications & Competencies

  • General and business knowledge equivalent to a Master’s degree with 4 - 5 years of progressive experience in higher education administration, including nontraditional and continuing adult education programs and student recruitment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with College managers and other staff, prospective students, and community groups including area employers.
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Applicable experience in institutional and product marketing and advertising.

Part-Time Staff: Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Central Penn College, a regionally accredited four year degree granting institution with numerous career-oriented programs is seeking candidates for an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coaching position. Central Penn College is a member of the USCAA and competes on a national level for small colleges.

Full-Time Faculty: Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education, Nursing

The Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) supports continuing development of the Nursing Program, teaches assigned courses, and ensures the delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education to the Central Penn Nursing students. The ACCE arranges for, and oversees, the completion of the clinical internship experiences, supervises practicum experiences, and evaluates each clinical site to ensure that it is providing the proper educational experiences for the students.

Under the direction of the Program Director, the ACCE will facilitate a residential BSN program and an RN to BSN Program. Candidate will be responsible for the establishment and continued development of the clinical sites, including maintaining affiliation agreements, clinical site requirements and all associated documentation. The ACCE will implement strategies to promote the recruitment, advising and retention of students, course scheduling and oversight of clinical placements, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the clinical practicum and internship program quality and maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; providing guidance to full-time and part-time faculty teaching within the program; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Curriculum development, working collaboratively with members of the larger College community and regulatory and accrediting agencies to determine course offerings, complying with requirements for curriculum, faculty and students.
  • Ensuring clinical experiences meet accreditation standards and are in sequence for students to fulfill BSN requirements.
  • Teach/manage assigned courses.
  • Oversee internships and capstones with visits to sites as needed.
  • Actively participate in continuing education seminars and programs and maintain a current, active, unencumbered Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN license.
  • Active participation in the Central Penn College Faculty Senate with membership on at least one standing Faculty Senate Committee.
  • Attend at minimum one technology training per year to stay up-to-date with technology usage in the classroom. 
  • Provide academic guidance and advising to students regarding careers.
  • Participate in admissions and marketing activities relative to the program. 
  • Ensure students are securing internships and employment in the field through utilization of networking opportunities, advisory board and community outreach.
  • Represent the Department through participation in the activities of professional and civic organizations and foster relationships that open doors for internships and employment. 
  • Appropriately role model and enforce the BIG EIGHT policies and philosophies of Central Penn College.

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Master’s Degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required; willingness to complete a doctorate degree in five years 
  • Five years of clinical experience in nursing with a current unencumbered Commonwealth of Pennsylvania RN license 
  • Two years teaching experience academic or clinical education, preferably in a postsecondary nursing program
  • Experience with maintenance of academic programs in accordance with curriculum standards
  • Knowledge of PA Board of Nursing accreditation standards

Full-Time Faculty: Nursing – Summerdale

A full-time Nursing Faculty member assists the Nursing Program Director/Chair and Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE) with the development of the Nursing program, teaches assigned courses to traditional daytime students and continuing education students in both on-ground and online formats, ensuring delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education and services to Central Penn Nursing students. The faculty member may also serve as a laboratory assistant for courses within the Nursing core courses. Full-time Nursing Faculty will teach both didactic and clinical portions of assigned courses and will supervise any additional Clinical Instructors/Faculty Assistants required to maintain the clinical student to faculty ratio of not more than 10 students to one faculty, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the didactic and clinical education for assigned courses; maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices.

  • Provide timely and complete student evaluations
  • Maintain clinical expertise in area of clinical instruction through continuing education, maintaining an unencumbered license  in the state of Pennsylvania, and maintaining or obtaining specialty certification in area of expertise
  • Work with the regulatory and accreditation organizations to ensure that academic programs and the staff who provide education services meet and exceed the requirements for the type of program they support
  • Actively communicate to fellow faculty, staff and students the need for the highest level of ethical behavior in all program activities
  • Actively participate in the Central Penn College Faculty Senate with membership on at least one standing Faculty Senate Committee
  • Participate in the rolling curriculum review process
  • See that ongoing outcomes assessment measures are conducted on assigned review courses

  • Graduate of an accredited MSN program
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience in medical-surgical, pediatric, OB/GYN, mental health, ICU or emergency care
  • Specialty Certification preferred
  • Two years of progressive teaching experience in an educational environment
  • Possess an unencumbered Registered Nurse License in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the College’s academic program leaders and to represent the College to the public, and community and accreditation agency representatives

The Clinical Instructor/Assistant Faculty supports continuing development of the Nursing Program, teaches assigned courses, and ensures the delivery of the highest quality post-secondary education to the Central Penn Nursing students. The Clinical Instructor will provide clinical education in a specified area of expertise in collaboration with the faculty member responsible for providing didactic instruction.

Under the direction of the didactic faculty, the Clinical Instructor/Assistant Faculty will oversee the clinical instruction of no more than 10 students in the assigned clinical facility, while achieving College and departmental goals and outcomes.

The three key areas of responsibility include: oversight of the clinical practicum in collaboration with the didactic faculty; maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and Pennsylvania State Nursing Regulations; and ensuring participation in College initiatives and compliance with College policies and practices. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Central Penn College's history can be traced back to 1881, when the Pennsylvania Business College opened its doors on Market Street in Harrisburg.
