Full-Time Staff: Instructional Design Technologist

Central Penn College is in search of an Instructional Design Technologist to design and develop competency-based, innovative online instruction and learning materials for graduate students.

Under the supervision of the Continuing Education/Online Dean, and in association with the Dean of Graduate Studies, the Instructional Designer will collaborative with faculty and staff in the production of online courses and supplemental materials.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and provide recommendations for interface design, sequencing of instruction, use of assessments, and design of course materials and activities
  • Provide pedagogical and instructional design consultation and support services to assist faculty to effectively deliver instruction, with particular emphasis on use of technology in hybrid, online and face to face technology-enhanced courses.
  • Gaining an understanding of college curricular priorities such as student learning outcomes assessment, accessibility, and inclusive excellence, and applying best design practices in implementing those priorities.
  • Develop and facilitate training workshops and seminars for faculty including helping faculty to use and stay current with best pedagogical practices for the online environment.
  • Training, mentoring, documentation and technical support.
  • Assist with the maintenance of online courses.
  • Evaluate and enhance online courses.
  • Continually explore new technologies for potential application to instructional requirements and problems.

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Master’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in Instructional Design, including experience in development of advanced level learning materials utilizing multiple technology and authoring tools.
  • Basic proficiency in Adobe products like Fireworks, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Presenter and Captivate.
  • Above average proficiency in Blackboard (preferably 9.1) and Blackboard Collaborate.
  • Ability to commute to main campus in Summerdale, PA on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects including strong ability to communicate and work effectively with faculty and staff
  • A positive, energetic outlook with strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions.

Part-Time Staff: Administrative Assistant - Continuing Education

Central Penn College is seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Continuing Education administrative team. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, possess great organizational skills and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

This part-time position requires flexible hours and experience in higher education. Associate’s degree in business or related field preferred.

Part-Time Staff: Resident Advisor

Central Penn College is seeking candidates for the position of Resident Advisor. This part-time, live-in position plays a vital role in facilitating an atmosphere of community within the residence halls.

Resident Advisors are responsible for:

  • Supervising students in assigned residential units
  • Assisting in the resolution of roommate issues and maintenance concerns
  • Facilitating programs for the residential community
  • Handling crisis situations as needed
  • Completing paperwork in a timely fashion

Candidates must be a positive role model, capable and willing to assist in meeting the needs of a diverse, multi-cultural residential population. In addition, they must have strong interpersonal skills; exceptional written and verbal communication skills are critical for success in this position. 

The ideal candidate is a college graduate who possesses a degree in psychology, sociology, social welfare or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation for this position is provided through free, on-campus housing (including utilities).

Central Penn a private proprietary college established its roots as a career-focused school in Pennsylvania’s state capital of Harrisburg, PA. Outgrowing the city, Central Penn made the move to its current scenic campus in Summerdale, PA in 1970.
