May 22, 2013 Nationwide named Central Penn College’s 2013 Business Partner of the Year

Central Penn College’s ninth annual Business Partner of the Year award recipient, Nationwide Insurance, was named during the college’s annual town hall meeting for students, employers and community members on May 15. Nationwide was selected because of its commitment to employee and student success. In the photo at left, Nationwide Insurance Human Resources Director Ed Nieves, on behalf of the Nationwide Insurance Northeastern Regional Operation, is shown accepting the Business Partner of the Year award from Central Penn College Career Services Director Steve Hassinger.

“Nationwide has partnered with the college in numerous ways,” says Hassinger. “We greatly value such mutually beneficial working relationships. They assist Central Penn in fulfilling its mission of preparing graduates to obtain employment or advancement in their chosen field, continue their education and be contributing members of society.”

Nationwide’s involvement includes hiring Central Penn graduates, conducting mock interviews, attending recruiting events, inviting Central Penn representatives to Nationwide to recruit their employees as students, and providing representation on a recently formed joint advisory council for Central Penn’s Career Services department and the college’s Corporate and Community Outreach Program.

"Nationwide is proud to be recognized as the Central Penn College 2013 Business Partner of the Year," says Brian O'Dell, Nationwide northeast regional vice president. "Central Penn has provided exceptional educational opportunities for many of our associates and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the college, students and alumni."

The Business Partner of the Year event, led by Hassinger, is a forum for Central Penn to thank the many employers and community members who have established a working relationship with the college and its students and alumni. During the town hall meeting, employers and students shared their thoughts on what employers are looking for in new employees and, alternatively, what students want from employers.

Finalists for the Business Partner of the Year award included Members 1st Federal Credit Union, Hersha Hospitality Management and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.
