August 8, 2018 Building partnerships, one company at a time

It’s been a busy summer for Curtis Voelker. As the community relations coordinator for Central Penn, he has been making the rounds of local businesses, developing new relationships and strengthening established ones.

He’s on a mission for companies to become active corporate partners with the college. Because once they do, their employees are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship, as long as the company offers its own tuition reimbursement program.

“Central Penn is a natural fit for most businesses,” says Voelker. “Our career-focused curriculum provides the education employees need to be even bigger contributors to their company’s success.”

Over the past two months, he’s established partnerships with the following businesses:

  • Chapel Pointe at Carlisle
  • Belco Community Credit Union
  • Susquehanna Valley Federal Credit Union
  • Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union
  • Hersha Hospitality Management
  • Capital Blue Cross
  • Footlocker of Camp Hill

He’s also renewed relationships with AAA Central Penn and Members 1st Federal Credit Union.

An added bonus to the new partnership with Footlocker is that the scholarship can be used by employees at the company’s service centers in six other states.

“Our online courses make distance learning convenient and the new scholarship makes our offerings even more attractive,” says Voelker.

With summer winding down, he has more companies to meet with and more relationships to build before focusing on high school visits in the fall. “Central Penn has a lot to offer nearby businesses, and my job is to help them understand the full benefits of such a relationship,” says Voelker.
