June 18, 2014 Central Penn Lancaster to start day classes

Central Penn College’s Lancaster Center, which offers associate and bachelor’s degree completion programs, will begin offering day classes in business administration and criminal justice administration, beginning with the summer term that starts July 7.

Central Penn Lancaster already offered business administration and criminal justice administration courses in the evenings to busy, working adults; however, a large number of students from the Lancaster area were also enrolling in the Summerdale campus day classes for the two degree programs.

“We wanted to give our students more flexible and convenient options as they earn their degrees,” says Kimberly Salgado, academic dean of Central Penn Lancaster. “This is the first time Central Penn Lancaster will be opening its doors to students for day classes.”

Dennis Eberly, a former operations supervisor, staff services supervisor and lieutenant with the East Hempfield Township Police department, was hired to help instruct the criminal justice administration classes. Eberly served in the United States Air Force Security Police and, in addition to his normal duties, served on the emergency services team and on the base honor guard. He also served on the Lancaster County DUI Task Force, as a negotiation unit supervisor for the Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team and on the South Central Pennsylvania Regional Counter-Terrorism Task Force. He has been active as a police instructor for many years.

In addition, Central Penn Lancaster is welcoming its first group of students to study the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) associate degree program in the July summer term. This degree is offered through a mix of evening, onsite courses and online courses. Central Penn Lancaster also offers evening courses in accounting, information technology and entrepreneurship and small business.
