February 6, 2019 Criminal Justice Class Visits County Prison

Students in the evening “Introduction to Corrections” class––taught by Dr. Sam Morgan––visited Cumberland County Prison earlier this week. Warden Travis Shenk gave the students a tour of the entire facility.

“They got to see all the processes that take place within corrections environment,” said Morgan, who chairs the college's Criminal Justice program. “They were able to interact with numerous corrections officers as they went about their assignments, which included the care, custody and control of inmates.”

Warden Shenk also covered the classification process for new inmates, along with booking and work release procedures. “Overall, this was an excellent opportunity to show how classroom instruction meets real-world application,” said Morgan.
