September 6, 2017 Legal studies/paralegal graduates share their expertise

Earlier this summer, the Office of Alumni Engagement teamed up with the legal studies and paralegal programs to host a panel session and networking reception for alumni and students, full-time faculty and part-time faculty. The panel of six alumni shared their legal expertise and practical tips, as well as their experiences as Central Penn students. The panel included an attorney, a current law student and paralegals in large and small firms, and in private practice and government service. Randi Teplitz facilitated the panel discussion with individualized questions that drew out the unique legal experiences of each member of the panel, who also made the students aware of the challenges that they will face as they move out into the legal field.

We had 46 attendees, including 15 graduates, 25 students, five faculty or staff members and one community member. Among the student attendees, several were online which presented them with a great opportunity to meet peers and instructors face-to-face.

“I found it fascinating to hear what other alums have done with their Central Penn education," said one panelist. "It was great to be able to speak with students and share my experiences with them from a real-world perspective.”

“The selection of the diverse panel offered different points of view," said a student who attended the presentation. "I found the information and views of the other panelists to be informative and presented in a fun and engaging manner.”
