Success Stories

Success MikeMike Wilt, Communications Major, 2004 Graduate

“I finished all of my classes and one week later, I had the opportunity for a 40+ hour a week paid internship in my field with a big-name creative services firm (where he now is employed). I don’t know of many places you can do that other than Central Penn…The main thing at Central Penn is the environment. You’re not just learning a lot of theory; you’re learning skills to lead you to the end result, which is employment—and Central Penn prepares you for that.”

Suzanne Sheaffer, 2005 Continuing Education Student, Criminal Justice

“I came to Central Pennsylvania College for my second bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. I originally completed my BSN at York College and spent 20 plus years in nursing. Then I became the first medical analyst with theSuzanne Sheaffer Attorney Generals Office Medicaid Fraud Control Unit Criminal Law Division. My education at Central Penn has helped bridge the gap between nursing and law enforcement. The professors I’ve encountered have much knowledge in their fields of expertise and are not afraid to share that knowledge. The small class size as well as the ability to take classes online really helps when you work full-time, go to school full-time and home school a child.”

Donna Hotham, 1991 Office Communications Graduate/2006 Healthcare Administration Continuing Education Student

Donna Hotham "Thanks to the great education I received from Central Penn in 1991, I recently went back to college to obtain my bachelor degree in Healthcare Administration. Where else would an alumnus go to obtain this? The answer is simple: Central Pennsylvania College. After obtaining my degree, I plan on furthering my education by hopefully receiving my Masters in a future endeavor from Central Penn! Thanks for a great education..."

Equila Phelps , Business Administration - Management Major, 2004 Graduate

Equila Phelps "Central Penn offers wonderful networking opportunities; the College connected me with a variety of federal and state agencies, and I was offered two jobs...and it's all because of Central Penn and the opportunities it makes available to students."

G. Scott Shatzer, '91, Aviation Administration, Sales Director in the Northeast territory for Bombardier Aerospace Flexjet

Scott Shatzer"As a graduate of Central Penn in 1991 under the Aviation Administration Associates degree program, I really underestimated my future successes following graduation. The hands-on training Central Penn provided allowed me to step right into the workforce at USAirways. I remained there, moving up the ladder of success, for seven years. I had all the training I needed, I just had to apply myself, work hard, and recognize the importance of building on and maintaining the relationships that helped get me there. In February 1998, through one of those relationships, I was offered a position with Bombardier Aerospace and, after several promotions, accepted my current position as Sales Director. I enjoy what I am doing. I work with great people and thank Central Penn for giving me the training I needed to cross my own bridge to success."

Scott is an Alumni Mentor, guest speaker, and is exploring partnership opportunities with his alma mater.
