Central Penn College is committed to a philosophy of community
service that prepares graduates to be contributing members of
society.
That's why all students are required to fulfill a service
assignment prior to graduation. More than just an obligation,
community service is an opportunity to learn, grow and gain social
skills vital to life.
You can serve on campus or in an external service organization,
but you must be an unpaid volunteer. It is not necessary
to perform your service all at once. Hours can be earned anytime
during enrollment.
Though club membership and meetings don't count, club service
projects like the Homeless Sleep Out or Soup Kitchen qualify.
All students are required to hand in a completed service log to
the internship adviser with their completed internship packets. All
hours must be tracked in a log.
Internship grades will not be issued without successful
completion of this service requirement. Continuing Education,
transfer students and students that change majors or degree levels
must also fulfill this requirement. Students who have already
completed an internship will need to work with their academic
advisor to ensure this goal is met prior to graduation.
Below are just a few of the organizations Central Penn students
have served. New suggestions for community service are always
welcome, but be sure the organization qualifies before you
commit.
