Central Penn Scholarships
Transfer Scholarship - $2000
The Transfer Student Scholarship is available to students who have completed at least 30 academic credits at another accredited institution. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $2000 to be used toward their first four terms of tuition. The Transfer Student Scholarship is awarded to all qualifying student applicants.
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must have at least 30 academic credits from another accredited institution
- Must enroll as a full-time/degree-seeking student taking day classes at the Harrisburg Campus
- College must receive completed application prior to the start of enrollment term
Summer Start Scholarships - $2000
The Summer Start Scholarship is available to students who get a head-start on their education by enrolling for Central Penn's Summer academic term. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $2,000 to be used toward their first four terms of tuition. Up to 180 students are awarded the Summer Start Scholarship annually.
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must enroll as a full-time/degree-seeking student at the Harrisburg Main campus taking day classes
- Must be among the first 180 students to send in the $100 registration fee for the Summer 2010 academic term
Academic Scholarship - $1,000 a term for your ENTIRE education
THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS NOW CLOSED.
The Academic Scholarship is available to students who demonstrated academic excellence throughout their four years of high school. Students who receive this scholarship will receive a $1,000 a term for their entire education (6 terms for an associate's degree, 10 terms for a bachelor's degree). Up to five students are awarded the Academic Scholarship annually. While receiving the scholarship, must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must be a 2010 high school graduate starting either the Summer or Fall 2010 academic term
- Must enroll as a full-time/degree-seeking student taking day classes at the Harrisburg Campus
- Must have a high school cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- College must receive completed application by April 1, 2010
- Must submit two letters of recommendation (academic or work-related)
Out-of-State Student Scholarship - $3000
THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS NOW CLOSED.
The Out-of-State Student Scholarship is available to students who have graduated from a high school outside the state of Pennsylvania. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $3,000 to be used toward their first three terms of tuition. Up to 15 students are awarded the Out-of-State Student Scholarship annually.
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must be a 2010 high school graduate and enroll at Central Penn for either the Summer or Fall 2010 academic term
- Must enroll as a full-time/degree-seeking student taking day classes at the Harrisburg Campus
- Must be a resident student to receive and maintain award
- Must have a 2.5 or higher high school cumulative GPA
- College must receive completed application by April 1, 2010
FBLA Scholarship $1000
THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS NOW CLOSED.
The FBLA Scholarship is available to student members of the FBLA club. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $1,000 to be used toward their first three terms of tuition. The FBLA Scholarship is awarded to all qualifying student applicants (excluding recipients of the Community Service Club Scholarship).
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must be a 2010 high school graduate and enroll at Central Penn for either the Summer or Fall 2010 academic term
- Must enroll as a full-time/degree-seeking student taking day classes at the Harrisburg Campus
- College must receive completed application by April 1, 2010
- Must be an active member in FBLA during high school senior year
- Must have FBLA advisor signature on application
Club Scholarship - $1000
THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS NOW CLOSED.
The Community Service Club Scholarship is available to students participating in high school-related club community service activities. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $1,000 to be used toward their first three terms of tuition. The Community Service Club Scholarship is awarded to all qualifying student applicants (excluding recipients of the FBLA Scholarship). Scholarship recipients must become an active member of at least one Central Penn club by the end of their second academic term or their remaining scholarship funds will be forfeited.
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must be a 2010 high school graduate and enroll at Central Penn for either the Summer or Fall 2010 academic term
- Must enroll as a full time/degree-seeking student taking day classes at the Harrisburg Campus
- College must receive completed application by April 1, 2010
- Must be an active member in a high school-related club that performs community service (club examples: DECA, HOSA, VICA, KEY, SADD, NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY, STUDENT COUNCIL)
- Must have club advisor signature on application
Multi-Cultural Student Scholarship - $1500
THIS SCHOLARSHIP IS NOW CLOSED.
The Multi-Cultural Student Scholarship is available to students identifying most closely with one of the following racial and ethnic groups: African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic American and Native American. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $1,500 to be used toward their first three terms of tuition. Up to 10 students are awarded the Multi-Cultural Student Scholarship annually.
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must be a 2010 high school graduate starting either the Summer or Fall 2010 academic term
- Must enroll as a full-time/degree-seeking student taking day classes at the Harrisburg Campus
- Must have a 2.5 or higher high school cumulative GPA
- College must receive completed application by April 1, 2010
Private Scholarship Matching - $1000
The Private Scholarship Matching Program is available to students who have applied for and been awarded an outside scholarship (scholarship funds awarded to a student through an agency or other source outside of Central Pennsylvania College to be used toward Central Pennsylvania College tuition). Scholarship recipients will be awarded matching funds up to $1,000. Private Scholarship Matching Program funds are awarded to all qualifying student applicants.
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must be a 2010 high school graduate and enroll at Central Penn for either the Summer or Fall 2010 academic term
- Must enroll as a full time/degree-seeking student taking day classes at the Harrisburg Campus
- Must submit outside scholarship award letter to Central Penn one week prior to enrollment
Legacy Scholarship - Up to $1500
The Legacy Scholarship is available to full-time student applicants who are children or grandchildren of a Central Penn graduate. Scholarship recipients will be awarded $1,500 to be used toward their first three terms of tuition. The Legacy Scholarship is awarded to all qualifying student applicants.
Recipients are selected on the following criteria:
- Must be a 2010 high school graduate and enroll at Central Penn for either the Summer or Fall 2010 academic term
- Must enroll as a full time/degree-seeking student taking day classes at the Harrisburg Campus
- Must be a child or grandchild of a Central Penn graduate
There is no application, just verification of the data above.
*All scholarship funds are limited. Students must be accepted to Central Penn as a first-time freshman and will need to have completed a scholarship application.

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program - Awards Vary
The Robert C. Byrd Scholarship Program is a federally funded program offering a merit scholarship for outstanding high school seniors who have been accepted at an institution of higher education. The Byrd Scholarship Program rewards academic excellence in high school and encourages students to continue their education. The federal government allocates the funds that determine the amount of the scholarship award.
To be considered for a Byrd Scholarship you must:
- Be a high school graduate during the same academic year in which the scholarship is awarded and expect to be a full-time freshman following high school graduation
- Be accepted for enrollment at an eligible institution of higher education
- Be a resident of Pennsylvania
Deadline for the Byrd Scholarship is May 1st of the student's senior year

Central Pennsylvania College Education Foundation - Awards Vary
This scholarship application is due August 13.
The Central Pennsylvania College Education Foundation strives to respond to the financial challenges of worthy students who wish to attend Central Pennsylvania College by awarding scholarships to those individuals who have demonstrated scholastic achievement and participation in community service or other extracurricular activities. The Foundation believes that investing in the lives of young people is an investment in life itself. Scholarship amounts vary from $100 - $1,000.
To be considered for these scholarships:
- Applicants must possess a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need
- Applicants must be enrolled at or accepted to Central Pennsylvania College
- Applicants must be US residents
- Applicants must be degree seeking

Bailey Foundation - $5000
This scholarship is now closed.
The Bailey Foundation provides both high school senior and college level scholarships. The application process is usually open two times a year. $5000 is awarded to one student who attends Central Penn as a current student during each application process. The award can be used over 18 months and is for tuition only. Go to http://www.bailey-family.org/ for additional information and application deadlines.
SciTech Scholarship - Variable
The SciTech Scholarship (for Bachelor's degrees) and the Technology Scholarship (for Associate degrees) are both awarded through the NETS Program. To apply for this program, you must be a permanent Pennsylvania resident, maintain a GPA of 3.0 and submit a FAFSA application as well as a separate NETS application. Students in the following Central Penn courses of study are eligible to apply: Associate degrees include Graphic Design, Communications, Computer Info Systems and Multimedia/Internet Production. Information Technology is the only Bachelor degree program. These scholarships are not based on financial need. Recipients of these scholarships must agree to work full-time in Pennsylvania following graduation, one year for each year that a scholarship award is received. A promissory note is required and if the scholarship requirements are not met the scholarship becomes a loan. Click here for additional information.
PATH Grant - Variable
Partners throughout the Commonwealth have joined efforts with PHEAA State Grant to offer qualifying students additional financial aid via educational grants. You must be a State Grant recipient and have a Federal Student Loan. You should demonstrate financial need for a PATH grant. PATH grants cannot exceed the maximum amount for a State Grant for the particular academic year. A participating PATH organization needs to nominate you/submit your name to PHEAA. Contact a participating organization for additional information.

G. Thomas Balsbaugh Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund makes awards to a senior from any Dauphin County High School who is planning to attend a four-year college or university.
Friends of Megan Bolton Memorial Fund
This fund is for Camp Hill High School seniors. The deadline date is April 16.
George P. Boucek Scholarship Fund of Delta Dental of Pennsylvania
This fund provides children of Delta Dental employees with college tuition assistance. The deadline date is April 15.
Chambersburg High School Class of 1963 Scholarship Fund
This fund makes awards to graduating seniors who are descendents of the Class of 1963. The deadline date is March 28.
The CODY Foundation Fund
This Fund will be awarded to graduating senior students from Greenwood High School, Susquenita High School, West Perry High School and Newport High School. There will be one award from each high school in the amount of $250 per student.
Sue and Ken Dyer Foundation Travel Scholarship Award
This award is for juniors and seniors of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill High School, Mechanicsburg Area High School, Trinity High School and/or Harrisburg Academy. The application deadline is April 14.
Educational Opportunity Fund
This fund awards a scholarship to a graduating senior of Harrisburg High School who will attend a four-year college or university. The application deadline is April 7.
Erin L. Jenkins Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund awards scholarships to deserving graduating seniors attending Cumberland Valley High School. The application deadline is April 28.
Ken and Romaine Kauffman Scholarship Fund
This fund makes an award to a graduating senior of Cumberland Valley High School or Cumberland-Perry Vo-Tech who will attend a four year college or university, technical school or community college. The application deadline is April 14.
Leon I. Lock and Barbara R. Lock Scholarship Fund
This fund will make an award to a graduating senior of a high school in the Harrisburg School District, including Bishop McDevitt, who will attend Harrisburg Area Community College, Central Pennsylvania College or Penn State or a student who is a graduate of one of the two high schools and who has graduated no more than five years before the year of the application. First preference will be given to students of automotive technology in the evening course at HACC, which would permit the student to work as well as attend college. The application deadline is April 3.
Bruce Mangione Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Bruce Mangione Memorial Scholarship Fund - This scholarship fund will benefit children of active employees of NRG Energy and its successors (Former Harrisburg Steam Works and the District Energy System), and children of active employees of Harrisburg Hilton and Towers. The scholarship fund will award up to two scholarships per year of $1,500 each. Application deadline is May 12th.
McInroy-Sheffer People Trust Fund
This fund awards scholarships to freshman students from Cumberland, Dauphin, Lycoming, Tioga and York Counties for the following:
- Penn College of Technology students who are studying Hands-on
- York College who are studying in the field of Communications
- Mansfield University who are studying Elementary Education
- Central Pennsylvania College who are studying fundamental business operations
- Harrisburg Area Community College who are studying in the field of Culinary Technology

Sam Mizrahi Memorial Scholarship
This fund will award scholarships to graduating seniors of Northern York High School. Students who plan to attend a two or four year trade school, college or university are eligible to apply. The deadline is April 1, 2008.
Pathways to Success
This fund will award high school and college minority students who plan to pursue a law-related career at a college or university located in Central Pennsylvania. The deadline date for scholarships for the spring of 2008 semester will be November 30, 2007. For scholarships which will be used during the 2008-2009 school year, the deadline will be March 1, 2008.
Pennsylvania House of Representatives Scholarship Fund
This fund will provide scholarship awards to two high school seniors who reside in Pennsylvania who will attend a Pennsylvania college or university.
Melvin J. and Alice Gayle Reeder Scholarship Fund
Established on February 11, 2005, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, the Melvin J. and Alice Gayle Reeder Scholarship was created by the Reeder children in memory of their parents to assist graduates of Northern York County Senior High School in Dillisburg, PA. The scholarship honors Melvin and Gayle Reeder, whose eight children all graduated from Northern and who, from 1967 to 1988, had at least one child attending school for 21 consecutive years. The Rice Family Scholarship Fund of Eichelbergers, Inc.
The Rice Family Scholarship Fund of Eichelbergers, Inc., beginning in 2008-2009, announces the availability of three $2,000.00 scholarships for students who are dependent children of associates of Eichelbergers, Inc., for use in pursuit of education at post-secondary educational institutions in the Commonwealth of PA. The parent(s) of an eligible dependent must be employed by Eichelberger's, Inc. for one full year.
Ollie Rosenberg Scholarship Fund
This fund will award scholarships to senior students from East Pennsboro High School, Harrisburg High School and/or The Yeshiva Academy. The application deadline is April 11.
J. Ward Sleichter and Frances F. Sleichter Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund awards scholarships to deserving students in the Shippensburg, Pennsylvania area as defined by the Shippensburg School District in Cumberland and Franklin Counties. The application deadline is April 3.
Soroptimist International of Chambersburg Fund
This fund awards a scholarship to a female senior of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. The application deadline is April 18.
Anil and Neema Thakrar Family Fund
This fund will distribute two scholarships annually. One scholarship will be to assist students for the study of Math, Science and Engineering for the City of Harrisburg School District and Sci-Tech High School and the other will be for the study of a medical related discipline for high school students in Dauphin, Cumberland and Perry Counties.
