Say NO to Rumors

Dear Students,

There are various rumors about the number of COVID cases on the Summerdale campus.

Let me set the record straight…

As of this morning, we’ve had a total of four on-campus cases… one staff member and three commuter students who were on campus for class.

Four cases. No residential students have tested positive.

Yes, there have been some potential exposures where residential students had to quarantine out of an overabundance of caution.

Say NO to Rumors

I understand that everyone is concerned about the coronavirus, especially as the cases continue to rise in Pennsylvania and throughout the country.

Your best source of information regarding COVID cases at Central Penn will be from the college’s official channels, including:

  • Emails from the president, cabinet officers and department leaders to your official Central Penn email
  • Student Central
  • Memorandum on official letterhead from college leaders

If the information isn’t from an official channel, then there’s a very good chance that it is inaccurate.

We ask that you don’t engage in gossip and rumor-mongering… because all that does is make a stressful situation even more stressful. If you have any COVID-Related questions regarding the college, please send them to covidinfo@centralpenn.edu, and you will receive a prompt response.

Remember, we’re all in this together. Keeping the campus safe is everyone’s job. Please continue to follow the social distancing guidelines, including wearing your mask, completing the daily “screener” on the App and scanning in to buildings and classrooms when on campus.

Out-of-State Visits and Visitors

In addition, if you are traveling out of state and/or planning to see friends and relatives from out of state, we ask that you disclose that information via the daily screening form on the App. Our contact tracing system only works if everyone is honest about their potential exposures.

All it takes is for one person NOT to follow our protocols and the college could have a potential outbreak on campus. None of us wants to see that happen, and nobody wants to be the person who causes others to become exposed and possibly infected.

It’s up to each and every one of us to do the right thing. That’s the Knight way!

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Linda Fedrizzi-Williams, EdD, MA
