If you have a keen eye for changes in your surroundings, a commitment to law and order, and a natural desire to protect and serve others, you may be the perfect candidate for a career in private security. You can help prevent theft, fraud, cybercrime, harassment, and more, using your skills to protect people and property.

By earning a certificate in private security, through six three-credit courses, you can enter the private security field in as little as nine months, or continue on to earn your bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field. Your skills would be especially valuable in stores, warehouses, hospitals, college campuses, armored car services, law enforcement, and more. You could find meaningful work as a criminal investigator, security guard or retail loss prevention specialist.

Certificate in Private Security

The Certificate in Private Security offers six three-credit courses to introduce students to the field of private security, corporate security, and retail security, along with their relationship to constitutional law, criminal justice, and public law enforcement. These courses are designed to heighten a student’s understanding and comprehension of complex and diverse applications of private security in today’s business climate.

This program is designed to help students pursue employment in the private or corporate security sector and prepare them for professional membership in the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) and the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification exam.
