Hope Devore MOT OTR/L

Academic Bio

I graduated from Saint Francis University with a double major in Allied Health and Psychology. I then earned my Masters in Occupational Therapy. I have worked 12 years in the acute care setting as an Occupational Therapist. I have guest lectured at Elizabethtown College and Alvernia University. I helped develop service line programs at UPMC Pinnacle.

Personal Bio

I was born and raised in Harrisburg. I spent many Spring Breaks in college working with Habitat for Humanity. I have been married for 11 years to my husband whom I met in high school. I have 3 wonderful kids at home - Makenzie, Bristol and Wyatt. I have beagle named Lola. I enjoy spending my free time - which isn't much - running my kids to their activities and spending time with my family at home.

What are you most passionate about?

I am most passionate about my family. They mean the world to me and I would do anything for them. I am also passionate about my occupation and getting the word out about what occupational therapy is and does.

Teaching Philosophy

I want my students to have fun while they are learning. I try to have a mix of lecture, videos, discussion and activities throughout the class time. Sometimes the discussion will open up to other topics that people have concerns or questions about that they would not have otherwise asked or discussed. Having open communication with students is key to success.
