My mission as an educator is threefold: to promote active learning, to spark enthusiasm for learning and to provide a strong foundation of skills that students can apply in the workplace. I view teaching as not only contributing to students’ intellectual growth, but also to their personal and professional growth. My goal is to help them increase their opportunities in life through education.
My focus is on active student learning with a goal to engage all students. I want students to leave my course feeling confident that they are able to apply the accounting concepts they've learned to real situations in the workplace. I achieve this by leading interactive discussions using a combination of visual illustrations, videos, discussion boards, and collaboration tools to engage students in the learning process.
As a professor, I follow four basic principles: Being enthusiastic for each class and letting it show, learning about each student in the course, organizing each class well and using a presentation style that maximizes student interest.
I truly believe education is a lifelong process. As an educator, I want to instill a passion in my students for education and emphasize to them of the many opportunities created through education.
