Powerful Play, Powerful Performances

The Capital BlueCross Theatre was the place to be this weekend with the debut of Bridge (the gap), a new theatrical work co-written by Central Penn Professor Maria James-Thiaw.

The production––a collaboration between the Sankofa African Theatre Company, Reclaim Artist Collective and the theatre¬¬––played to a full house on Saturday night, with a large crowd in attendance on Sunday afternoon.

Bridge (the gap) explores issues of racism, family brokenness and cultural differences in a thoughtful, profound way. Kudos to all the performers, including students Ashanti Conover, Nik Holloman and Brianna McCoy, for doing such an outstanding job!

Also deserving recognition are Director of Campus Engagement Adrienne Thoman for her portrayal of Alex; students Marnie Baker as stage manager and Dontae Williams as tech; and Theatre Director Janet Bixler for her myriad contributions to ensure a smooth-running production.
