Central Penn College named to list of top Medical Assisting Programs

Out of the 56 schools that offer Medical Assisting Programs in Pennsylvania, Central Penn College has been named one of the top 15 programs by Medical Assistant Advice.

Central Penn College’s New Medical Assisting Diploma Program

To meet the growing demand for healthcare workers in southcentral Pennsylvania, Central Penn College will launch a new, 12-month Medical Assisting Diploma program in Lancaster. All courses will be offered during daytime hours at the college’s Lancaster Center.

The need in the Lancaster area may be even greater. According to the High Priority Occupations List published by the PA Department of Labor and Industry, Medical Assisting positions in Lancaster County are expected to grow 20.9% through 2026.

Medical Assisting Associate Degree Program

Central Penn College offers a 61-credit associate degree in medical assisting that can be completed in 18 months, plus an internship. With coursework that combines general education and core medical assisting courses, you will receive well-rounded training that not only prepares you for entry-level medical assistant positions but also lays a solid academic foundation, should you plan to pursue a higher degree in healthcare.

The 39-credit core curriculum includes courses in medical terminology, pharmacology, medical insurance, allied health procedures, medical administrative procedures, clinical procedures, and an internship. The program begins every fall and continues over five terms. This course is a combination of classroom studies (day or evening), online courses, and lab training.
