Central Penn to Kick Off Homecoming Weekend with First-Ever Concert

Central Penn College (CPC) is pleased to announce that A Proud Monkey––the East Coast’s premier Dave Matthews tribute band––will perform on Friday, Oct. 15, 6–9 p.m., as part of the college’s Magical Moments Homecoming Weekend.

Tickets for the outside concert are $20 and are available here. With promo code KNIGHT, attendees can save $5 off general admission tickets, if purchased by Aug. 20.

This year, 2021, marks the college’s 140th anniversary, and the Summerdale-based institution is celebrating in grand style, with multiple activities throughout the Oct. 15–17 weekend. All events are open to the public and community members are encouraged to attend.

In addition to the concert, Homecoming Weekend features an opening reception to celebrate Central Penn College’s 140th year and the graduating classes of 2020 and 2021; an open house for prospective students; the annual Fall Harvest Festival; an outside screening of the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone followed by a bonfire; and brunch with the college’s President, Dr. Linda Fedrizzi-Williams, on Sunday morning. The full schedule of events is listed below.

A First for the College

“This is the first-ever concert to be held on the college’s campus,” said Michael Fedor, VP of Advancement and Strategic Initiatives, “And we are so excited that A Proud Monkey––a perennial fan favorite––will be here to kick off our three-day Homecoming Weekend celebration.”

A Proud Monkey is often described as “second only to the real thing.” The group is a collective of the greater Philadelphia area’s most in-demand studio and live musicians. After performing thousands of shows throughout the country, they’ve been heralded as the East Coast’s top Dave Matthews tribute band.

“We strive for the most accurate sonic representations of the music and feel of a Dave Matthews Band concert,” noted Dustin Switzer the group’s lead singer. “Many of our stage instruments are virtually identical to those used by the actual band throughout the last 25 years, which is integral to accurate replication.”

Tickets for the outside concert are $20 and are available here. With promo code KNIGHT, attendees can save $5 off general admission tickets, if purchased by Aug. 20.

“For 140 years, Central Penn College has served as a vital resource for our community, and our Magical Moments Homecoming Weekend is a celebration of the college’s deep connections to communities throughout the capital region,” said Fedor. “This fall, we’re throwing one of the area’s biggest birthday parties and the entire community is invited.”
