Central Penn Students Attend Job Shadow Day at Members 1st FCU

Students from several business and communication classes at Central Penn College recently stepped outside the classroom and into the corporate world during the inaugural Job Shadow Day hosted by Members 1st Federal Credit Union at its Enola headquarters.

A total of 33 students, along with faculty and staff, attended the event, which had been more than a year in the making. The day featured presentations from leaders across the organization who shared what a typical “day in the life” looks like in their roles, how they advanced in their careers, and what advice they have for aspiring professionals.

Inside the Business of Banking

Students heard from team members representing a wide range of departments.

Throughout the day, several key themes emerged. Presenters emphasized the importance of cross-department collaboration, highlighting how teamwork drives success across the organization. They also discussed the responsible use of artificial intelligence in financial services, explaining how AI enhances efficiency while protecting sensitive customer information.

Most notably, employees shared their pride in serving the community.

Networking in Action

Following the presentations, students participated in a networking lunch, where they connected directly with Members 1st professionals. Many students exchanged LinkedIn information, asked thoughtful questions about career paths, and gained valuable insight into breaking into the business world.

Students described the experience as eye-opening and affirming, noting the value of seeing firsthand how classroom concepts apply in real-world careers. They also appreciated the opportunity to learn from vice presidents and department leaders who took time out of their busy schedules to engage with them.

Looking Ahead

Discussions are already underway about hosting future Job Shadow Days and potentially expanding the program to other colleges in the region.

Central Penn College extends its sincere thanks to Members 1st Federal Credit Union for its hospitality and partnership in creating meaningful, hands-on career experiences for students.
