From the East – Take I-76 West (PA Turnpike) get off at Exit 247 (Harrisburg East). Take center lane to I-83 North toward Hazleton/Lewistown. Follow signs to I-81. Take I-81 South toward Carlisle. Take Exit 65 (Enola) onto Routes 11/15 South (Enola). From Routes 11/15 travel one half mile and turn right at the traffic light onto Valley Road. Travel a half mile. Central Penn is on the left.
OR… Take I-78 West. This road will merge with I-81 South. Stay on I-81 South and take Exit 65 (Enola). Travel about one half mile and turn right at the traffic light onto Valley Road. Travel a half mile. Central Penn is on the left.
From the South – Take I-83 North to Rt. 581 West (Exit 41A). Follow Rt. 581 West to I-81 North (Exit 1A). Take I-81 to Exit 65 (Enola) to Routes 11/15 South. Go one half mile and turn right at the traffic light onto Valley Road. Travel a half mile. Central Penn is on the left.
OR…Take Rt. 15 to Rt. 581 West. Follow Rt. 581 West to I-81 North (Exit 1A). Take I-81 to Exit 65 (Enola) to Routes 11/15 South. Go one half mile and turn right onto Valley Road. Travel a half mile. Central Penn is on the left.
From the North – Take Routes 11/15 South or I-81 South to Exit 65 (Enola) onto Routes 11/15 South. About one half mile south of I-81, turn right at the traffic light onto Valley Road. Travel a half mile. Central Penn is on the left.
From the West – Take I-76 East (PA Turnpike) to Exit 226 (Carlisle). Go north on I-81 to Exit 65 (Enola) onto Routes 11/15 South. Go one half mile and turn right at the traffic light onto Valley Road. Travel a half mile. Central Penn is on the left.
Temporary Traffic Restrictions Near Central Penn College
Visitors traveling to Central Penn College should allow additional time due to temporary construction and traffic restrictions near campus.
Beginning Monday, July 20, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will begin the second phase of a pavement preservation project along Route 11/15, also known as Enola Road, and Interstate 81 in East Pennsboro Township.
Construction will affect Route 11/15 from just south of Valley Road to just north of Bella Vista Drive, as well as I-81 between the Exit 65 interchange and the Miller Street bridge.
What Visitors Should Expect
During the project:
- Travel lanes on Route 11/15 will be reduced to 11 feet wide for up to 90 days.
- Traffic will be directed through lane shifts, temporary restrictions, concrete barriers and channeling devices.
- Several ramps at the I-81 Exit 65 interchange will be temporarily closed and detoured.
- Delays are possible, especially near the Route 11/15 and I-81 interchange.
- Access to Central Penn College will remain available.
Lane restrictions are not permitted on Route 11/15 during peak weekday travel periods from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. I-81 lane restrictions will not be permitted during daylight hours.
Temporary Ramp Detours
By midweek, four ramps at the I-81 Exit 65 interchange are expected to close for up to 90 days:
Northbound I-81 to southbound Route 11/15 toward Enola:
Drivers will be detoured through the interchange using the ramps for northbound Route 11/15, southbound I-81 and southbound Route 11/15 toward Enola.
Northbound Route 11/15 to northbound I-81:
Drivers will be directed onto southbound I-81 before using interchange ramps to return to northbound I-81.
Southbound I-81 to northbound Route 11/15 toward Marysville:
Drivers will be directed toward southbound Route 11/15 before using interchange ramps to return to northbound Route 11/15.
Southbound Route 11/15 to southbound I-81:
Drivers will be directed onto northbound I-81 before using interchange ramps to return to southbound I-81.
Detour routes will be marked with temporary signs. Visitors should follow all posted directions and consider using a GPS or navigation app for current routing.

Prospective students and families visiting campus are encouraged to:
- Leave additional travel time.
- Review their route before departing.
- Follow posted PennDOT detour signs.
- Use extra caution when traveling through the construction area.
The project includes roadway repairs, paving, lighting improvements, drainage work, guide rail updates, pavement markings and sign improvements.
