About the Play:

In September 1787, the United States of America faces financial and political ruin. In September 1787, Philadelphia’s Jacob Shallus family faces financial and marital ruin. In September 1787, Black lives are already ruined in countless ways. Three words may offer hope: We the People.

Not only did Jacob Shallus pen the U.S. Constitution, but he is also a long, lost relative of playwright Dlugolecki! This full-length play with music asks, “Where am I in the Constitution?” The answer is revealed through the minds and emotions of four distinct groups: 1. the delegates who framed and drafted the document 2. The wives of the delegates and the daughter of Benjamin Franklin 3. The Shallus Family struggling to make ends meet 4. African Americans of the AME church advocating for the abolition of slavery and literacy for the Black community.

Following each performance, the audience will have the opportunity to engage with a Constitutional scholar, the actors and production crew while enjoying refreshments.

Thursday, September 16 @ 7:30 pm
Friday, September 17 @ 7:30 pm – Constitution Day!
Sunday, September 19 @ 2:30 pm – includes the performance and ample homemade treats and teas from Manchester Teas & Tart
