Central Penn College Launches New Cannabis Management Concentration

Are you looking to enter one of Pennsylvania’s most rapidly expanding industries? Central Penn College is excited to announce the launch of a new Cannabis Management concentration within its Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program. This new concentration builds on the success of our popular Cannabis Business certificate program, offering a seamless pathway for students to advance their credentials and gain a comprehensive, bachelor’s-level education tailored for the cannabis sector.
Addressing a Critical Workforce Need
The cannabis industry, both in Pennsylvania and across the nation, is experiencing significant growth. This expansion creates a dynamic economic landscape with a critical demand for skilled business leaders. As the industry matures, businesses urgently need professionals who deeply understand its unique operational, regulatory, and market complexities.
Central Penn College recognizes this crucial need. We’ve seen strong interest in our existing certificate program, which encouraged us to develop the Cannabis Management concentration. This program directly addresses the shortage of qualified professionals in this sector, a need highlighted by the state through initiatives like the Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program.
What is the Grow PA Grant Program?
The Grow PA Grant Program, established by the Pennsylvania General Assembly in 2024, aims to strengthen the state’s workforce by supporting students pursuing eligible programs in high-demand fields. The cannabis industry is clearly one of those fields.
“Pennsylvania’s commitment to building its workforce in in-demand occupations, as evidenced by the Grow PA Scholarship Grant Program, underscores the vital need for trained professionals in sectors such as cannabis,” says Michael Bouchard, Program Director of Central Penn College’s School of Business and Professional Studies. “Our new Cannabis Management concentration is a forward-thinking response to this state-identified workforce shortage. We are equipping students with the specific business acumen and industry knowledge required to thrive and lead in Pennsylvania’s legal cannabis industry.”
Comprehensive Education for a Growing Industry
The Cannabis Management concentration provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the industry landscape. This includes everything from its historical context and evolving regulations to the essential entrepreneurial skills needed to navigate this unique market.
Coursework delves into key business functions as they apply to the cannabis sector, covering:
- Operations
- Marketing
- Finance
- Intricate regulatory and compliance environments
The seamless transition from our Cannabis Business certificate program allows students to apply their foundational knowledge directly towards a bachelor’s degree, deepening their expertise and significantly expanding their career prospects.
Your Future in Cannabis Management
Industry projections show that the legal cannabis market is poised for substantial growth, creating abundant career opportunities. Graduates of Central Penn College’s Cannabis Management concentration will be well-prepared for a variety of roles, including:
- Dispensary Managers
- Compliance Officers
- Operations Supervisors
- Marketing Specialists
