Central Penn Women’s Soccer Opens 2025 Season with Impressive Road Victory

The Central Penn College women’s soccer team kicked off their 2025 campaign in dominating fashion, defeating NCAA Division III opponent Trinity Washington University 4–0 on the road in Washington, D.C.
Despite facing adversity—including playing with just nine players for the entire match—the Lady Knights displayed grit, teamwork, and determination to secure the season-opening win.
Strong Start in the First Half
Freshman forward Kayli Davis made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, scoring the opening goal after connecting with a clever pass from Aubrey McGlynn and firing a powerful shot past the Trinity Washington goalkeeper.
Shortly after, ANia Lalic showcased her skill by dribbling the length of the field and finishing confidently to put Central Penn up 2–0 at halftime.
Sealing the Victory
The Lady Knights carried their momentum into the second half. Davis netted her second goal of the match after receiving a well-placed long pass from Keira Lee, giving her a brace in her first outing as a Knight.
With less than two minutes remaining, Honestee Coldsmith made her mark, slicing through multiple defenders before slotting home her first career collegiate goal to seal the 4–0 victory.
In goal, Mady Brymesser delivered a stellar performance, recording six saves and earning the shutout with the support of a resilient defensive unit.
Praise from the Sidelines
Head Coach Ed Grubesky credited his team’s perseverance and teamwork:
“Our coaching staff was very proud of the hard work and extra effort everyone on our team put in while playing numbers down for the entire match. I thought Chloe Kreiser and Aubrey McGlynn worked super hard defensively, helped to create several good attacking chances for our forwards, and for themselves.”
He also highlighted the impact of both newcomers and returning stars:
“I was pleased that our two freshman forwards Abby Roberts and Kayli Davis were able to generate scoring chances as evidenced by Kayli’s two goals. On the defensive side, ANia Lalic and Mady Brymesser showed why they were First Team All-Conference players last season by their superb play throughout the match.”
Looking Ahead
The Lady Knights will return home for a rematch against Trinity Washington on Thursday, October 9th, with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on City Island.
