Communications students represent Central Penn College at Phillies College Series event

Central Penn College Attends Phillies College Series

At Central Penn College, students pursuing a Communications degree gain more than classroom knowledge. They gain real-world experience, professional networking opportunities and hands-on learning that prepares them for successful careers in media, marketing, public relations and corporate communications.

Recently, members of the Knightly News Media Club traveled to Citizens Bank Park to attend the Philadelphia Phillies College Series “Sport Management & Hospitality Night.” The exclusive event gave students behind-the-scenes access to industry professionals working in professional sports, hospitality, marketing and operations.

For students in Central Penn College’s Corporate Communications bachelor’s degree program and Communications associate degree program, experiences like this are a major advantage. Students are regularly exposed to real industry environments where they can build confidence, develop professional connections and apply communication skills outside the classroom.

During the event, students learned directly from Phillies executives and industry leaders about leadership, communication, event planning, marketing and career development. Phillies Wall of Famer and former general manager Ed Wade shared how internships and hands-on opportunities helped launch his decades-long career in Major League Baseball.

The event reinforced one of the biggest lessons Central Penn College teaches Communications degree students: success often comes from being willing to step outside your comfort zone and say yes to new opportunities.

“This experience was eye-opening,” said Knightly News Co-Vice President Alex Foley. “I think it is so beneficial for students to take as many opportunities as possible to put themselves out there, learn networking skills and discover different professions.”

Knightly News President Noah Lopez said the experience gave him a new perspective on the communications industry.

“I got to network with professionals in the sports management and sales field,” Lopez said. “It inspired me with hope that I can achieve things just as great.”

These types of experiential learning opportunities are part of what makes Central Penn College’s Communications degree programs unique. Students are encouraged to participate in clubs like Knightly News, attend professional events, complete internships and build industry connections before graduation.

Whether students want to work in corporate communications, public relations, digital media, marketing, journalism or sports communications, Central Penn College provides the hands-on experience employers value most.

If you are looking for a Communications degree that combines classroom learning with real-world experience, networking opportunities and career preparation, Central Penn College can help you take the next step toward your future.
