Hassani Hussein Karemera was one of only 83 students statewide to be awarded a $3,000 Pennsylvania CPA Foundation scholarship as part of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

The Pennsylvania CPA Foundation scholarship was designed to help future CPAs reach their goals. A total of more than $213,000 in scholarships was awarded in 2021! PICPA has been investing in the Commonwealth’s CPAs for more than 125 years.

Karamera is a first-generation college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Central Penn College in Summerdale, Pa. He is very involved in campus activities and is a member of the Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society.

“Because of Central Penn’s size, I can fully engage in the community,” says Karamera.

Many of Central Penn’s graduates go on to become Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). Professionals with a bachelor’s degree in accounting are in high demand. The government predicts about a 10% growth in the field and related careers through 2026.

Students in Central Penn’s accounting program learn how to interpret and analyze data, use various industry and financial software, perform cost and revenue projects and gain real-world experience during internships with local companies.

“Central Penn’s accounting program provides students with the knowledge and the skills they need to succeed in this growing profession,” says Dean of Professional Studies Benjamin Lipschutz.
