Central Penn’s Lady Knights Earn First Win in a Dominant Performance

Central Penn women’s team crushed host Penn State New Kensington, 84–30, in an away contest on Saturday for their first win of the season. The Lady Knights held the Lady Lions to 10 points in the first half, opening a 32-point lead, 42-10.

Head Coach Erin Miller was happy to earn her first win at the CPC helm. “As a coach,” said Miller, “I was very excited for us as a coaching staff and for the ladies. We started to play more to our abilities and I think it showed Saturday!”

Originally hired last year, Miller didn’t get a chance to coach due to COVID canceling the entire 2020–2020 season. The Lady Knights lost their first two contests of the season to Penn State Brandywine and Penn State Schuylkill.

Balanced Attack

All seven players on Central Penn scored, which Miller viewed as a hopeful sign. “For us to be successful, everyone needs to step it up and contribute. One player or two cannot carry this team,” she said.

Sidney Green led the scoring surge for the Lady Knights way with 28 points. Sydney Bubb pumped in 21 points, on 4–7 shooting from beyond the three-point arc. Junior guard Tahniyaah Jackson ended the afternoon with 18. Over three games, she’s averaging 21 points a contest.

Regarding the 49 points from Green and Bubb, Miller was quite pleased: “Super proud of them! This team has so much potential and talent. We are a young team, but the talent is crazy!”
